REGINA L. SMALLEY, Ph.D.
Clinical Psychologist (PSY 18314)
(619) 255-2787 • Hillcrest

I have worked with clients with diverse issues, including depression; confusion and conflicts about career and other self-identity issues; relationship problems, including break-ups and conflicts with family; feeling worthless; low self-esteem; difficulty in making transitions—moving, new career, new roles; coming to terms with abuse; understanding sexual or gender orientation; aging issues, including mid-life changes, menopause, getting “old”; difficulty with intimacy; grief and loss; “codependence”; feeling stuck; and wanting to change.

My experience also includes supervising therapists and doing presentations and training for people in the helping professions.

My approach to therapy is integrative, drawing from different theories, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and relational. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment for clients to articulate, explore, and confront those difficult thoughts, feelings, and meanings that can become obstacles to achieving relief, change, and growth.
